Problem
It seems that users are not understanding the importance of the "Publish step". we need to give more awareness to it and make sure users are clear what will happen after they Publish a new version of a document
Solution
Bea Suggested a very common UX pattern in Edit-and-Publish based systems that we can implement in Seed
Prototype of the Publish Dialog
This dialog will open when users click the Publish button in the draft header document tools section. As you can see in the prototype, users will be able to see the URL that will be assigned to this document, copy the URL, see a Preview of how it will be visible AFTER we published and a confirmation button to finally publish it.
This dialog will appear even if the user is creating a new document or editing an existing document. This proposal can feel like we are adding "friction" to the publish workflow, but we believe (and based on the collected data from user interviews) that is a necessary friction that is not even bothering users; its actually expected for these kind of systems with Edit mode and publish mode.
